WYPALL® Wipers continued its winning streak as one of its crew chiefs scored yet another NEXTEL Cup Series victory. Robbie Reiser's win for the #17 DEWALT team at the UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 marked his second in as many weeks. And with Tony Eury's win at Daytona, the WYPALL® Wipers crew chiefs have yet to lose a race this season.
As impressive as Reiser's victory was, it was Donnie Wingo, crew chief of the # 42 Dodge, that the FANS saluted. Forty-five percent of the fans who logged on to www.wypall.com felt that Wingo's rebound from Jamie McMurray's brush with the wall made him a worthy candidate for the WYPALL® Wipers Crew Chief of the Race. Wingo showed great composure during some tense moments on pit road. When McMurray hit the wall early on, Wingo brought him in to assess the damage. Wingo quickly sized up the situation and found the front-end tow was knocked out of alignment. He launched into the necessary repairs and was able to send McMurray back out to a top five finish. Driver and crew agreed that it was Wingo's cool headed response that kept them all focused and able to get the job done.
Even Robbie Reiser concurred. "Donnie (Wingo) got my vote," said Reiser. "McMurray hit the wall pretty hard. They had some big repairs to make on that car, but Donnie kept the crew focused. He kept the driver focused and pulled out a top-five. That's what a good crew chief does."
Wingo's selection as the WYPALL® Wipers Crew Chief of the Race established a three-way tie for the WYPALL® Wipers Crew Chief of the Year. He is tied with Tony Eury, Sr. and Robbie Reiser for first place in the overall standings.
